About CASHY
|
Vision
A safe and Healthy community free of illegal use and abuse of alcohol
and other drugs.
Mission
To help every youth in our community enjoy a safe, healthy, and
substance-free journey to adulthood by implementing proven drug and
alcohol prevention programs.
Scope
The Granite Bay High community including Cavitt and Olympus Middle
Schools
History
CASHY was formed in July 2007 to help raise awareness and educate
parents about the pressures our kids face today that involve the use of
drugs and alcohol. We believe that underage drinking and drug
use is dangerous for our children. We provide communications
and advocacy support for substance abuse prevention on all fronts: the
individual, family, school and community. CASHY is comprised
of parents, students, health care experts and local law enforcement and
welcomes other concerned citizens (such as local businesses) who have a
stake in the health and safety of the youth in our community.

Activities
- We sponsor
community education forums on relevant topics to inform and educate
parent and students.
- CASHY will
publish periodic newsletters to keep our community abreast of current
information.
- We
have agreed to implement a safe host contract and associated database
system which will allow parents to register their homes as a safe place
for your child to visit. The cities of Roseville and Rocklin
are well
on their way to implementation of such a system, which we will copy.
- CASHY is
working with school staff to evaluate teen alcohol education programs.
- We
will collect and publish local statistical data on drug use frequency
and patterns. We will use this data to monitor our progress toward our
goals.
- CASHY will
investigate drug issues of concern to our
community. For instance, we have recently studied the risk
and
symptoms of steroid use by our athletes.
- We evaluate
substance abuse literature and will distribute the relevant material to
our community.
- CASHY
serves as a focal point of contact for parents concerned about
substance abuse issues.
